The 1974 Adoption law in Haiti will be applied to all files not submitted to IBESR in Haiti by the 7th of January 2009.
The 1974 Law states that adoptive parents must:
- be 35 years of age (at least one parent)
- be married for at least 10 years OR
- if single, must be 35 years old or older
have no biological children- have no more than 2 biological children
