Adoptions

The main ministry focus of HCH is to provide shelter, care, and love to orphaned children. This has created a unique opportunity for North American families to open their homes to these children through adoption.

Haiti Children's Home has infants and toddlers who are in need of a Forever Family. All of the children undergo medical testing which includes testing for Sickle Cell Anemia, Hepatitis B, and HIV before they are proposed to parents as potential adoptive sons and daughters. Most of the children at HCH are healthy and strong, however, there are a few special needs children who are healthy enough to be available for adoption.

"We believe this is God's plan for us to be included in these children's lives. We are thankful each day for the wonderful mother/daughter team of Pat and Melinda Smith, who run Haiti Children's Home. Everyday they give their lives to the little ones there with little or no thanks, yet serving with hearts full of love."

Written by an adoptive parent of two children from HCH.

Couples or single women that are eligible to adopt from HCH would need to agree with Haiti Children's Home Statement of Faith as well as be able to meet their country's, as well as Haiti's, criteria.

Adoptions Update

Because Haitian government is strictly enforcing the current adoption laws, we are no longer able to accept files that do not meet all the criteria for the current laws. Unfortunately, we are no longer able to ask for special consideration related for infertile couples who do not meet the age or marriage requirements.

Prospective parents with any biological children need to be aware that your file may experience indefinite delays due to presidential dispensation. If you decide to adopt, please be aware that we cannot provide you with a timeframe as we do not know how long the file will remain in IBESR for dispensation.

Families for Boys Only, PLEASE!!!!!

Haiti Children's Home is only accepting files for boys ages 2 to 8 at this time. We have several little boys who are proposal ready, immediately.

We are not accepting files for girls (except for handicap children) or infants until further notice. Due to circumstances following the earthquake, including a significant lack funds for child care we are unable to take in new children at this time.

If you have already started your file for HCH and you are intending to adopt a girl or infant please contact Melinda Ulysse at hchkids@yahoo.com or 352-307-2449 immediately. All of our little girls and infants already have families or will be proposed in the next few weeks.

Attention Residents of
British Columbia

If you are from BC and planned to adopt from Haiti, please be aware that BC has temporarily suspended the adoption program to Haiti. The following update was made by the government of BC recently:

Post earthquake applications to adopt from Haiti are officially suspended. The Director.s Office will continue to seek information from other international adoption authorities, the Canadian federal government and the Haitian government in regards to post earthquake adoption applications. This decision to suspend post earthquake applications will continue to be reviewed at a 6 month and 1 year intervals.
