Founder and President of Haiti Children's Home, Pat has been serving in Haiti since 1983,
and founded HCH in 1988. She oversees the children and staff at the home and specializes
in the care of infants in her upstairs nursery. Many hours are spent helping her daughter
Melinda provide nursing care to sick children and new admissions, as well as directing the
activities of new volunteers. Pat also commits a lot of her time to communicating with prospective
volunteers and new and current adoptive families. She can often be found cuddling a preemie,
all the while hatching some plot to play some trick on her volunteers or staff.
|
Melinda returned to Haiti in 1998 and joined her mother in her ministry, three years after
obtaining her nursing degree in the USA. She is kept very busy utilizing her many gifts and
talents to help maintain a smooth running home. Melinda's nursing skills are used in many areas,
including the assessment of new admissions, maintaining the health of children already in our care,
and providing emergency care in the community. She also oversees adoptions, construction projects,
food purchases, dietary planning, teaches the home's Bible class, and is the financial planner for the home.
Pastor Massenat and Melinda Smith were joined before the Lord in marriage on Friday, November 27th 2009.

Mathieu has been the Director of HCH for the past four years. He was a school teacher in Mirebalais until
Melinda recruited him to help with the adoption paperwork. He has been doing all of the administrative
work involved with adoptions such as, making sure papers
are at the right office, filling out any applications,
going to the Embassies, passport office, IBESR, lawyers,
and courts. Mathieu reports back to Melinda in regards
to the progress of adoption dossiers.

HCH was blessed to have Minnie join the team in October 2007, having left her heart behind while
volunteering for 3 ½ months earlier in the year. Minnie took over the huge task of becoming the
teacher for our new English school for the orphanage children, and now has all of our school aged
children well on their way to being bilingual. When she is not busy instructing children, Minnie
can be found using her many God-given talents, including cooking North American style suppers for
the children, cuddling babies, and working with Lori to provide a structured daily routine for the children.
|
Lori joined the team in August 2007, answering the call God had placed on her heart over a year earlier
while volunteering at HCH for two months. Lori has been instrumental in redesigning the daily activities
and routines on the main floor of the home to provide more structure and stability in the children's lives.
Her role includes planning daily activities and special events, including birthday parties, field trips
and other activities to enrich the children's lives. In addition to this, Lori also fills the role of
physiotherapist, photographer, communication facilitator, and is always willing to fill the gap in any
capacity where she is needed.

| HCH has over 40 paid Haitian nannies, cooks, laundresses, and janitors who work over three different
shifts throughout the day and night.
